Sir Stanley Matthews' blue England home internationals cap season 1956-57, with embroidered inscriptions for the Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland matches; sold with a letter of provenance signed by Les Scott, Matthews' friend and biographer (2) This cap is from Sir Stanley Matthews' final season of international football. The England legend played in all three home internationals, comprising the 1-1 draw in Belfast, the 3-1 win over Wales at Wembley and the 2-1 win over Scotland also at Wembley. His final international matches were in the subsequent World Cup qualifiers v Republic of Ireland and Denmark played in May 1957. The cap was presented by Sir Stanley Matthew to the present vendor who was a friend for many years.
